Fun by the half dozen | Newville, PA Children’s Photographer

You know what’s great? Pictures where everyone is smiling and looking at the camera. You know what’s really great? Seeing kids’ personalities in every photo taken. And there was no shortage of personality this day! When a dear friend asked if we could do a session at an old mill still operated by her grandfather, I couldn’t think of a more fitting place. The notion of trying to get everyone to look in the same direction at the same time was quickly abandoned and we just went with it. I absolutely loved looking over the pictures, thinking of each child and seeing their individual personalities in each one. I think we all agreed that the end result was far better than perfect smiles and poses every time. Don’t you agree?

Sunshine on a Cloudy Day | Boiling Springs, PA Senior Portrait Photographer

Seniors have busy schedules. Really busy schedules. And this gorgeous senior was no exception! So when we planned our session, we did not pencil “rain” in on the calendar. But rain it did. Fortunately, the gloom moved out and the clouds that were left behind provided the perfect cover for a morning of pictures. I confess that I have a special place in my heart for Alyssa’s family. I grew up as a Bubbler and moved to Bulldog territory when I got married. She started out as a Bulldog and moved to Boiling Springs to finish high school as a Bubbler. So I was kind of jealous to hear she would have a chance to wear purple and gold! I have no doubt that she will go far after graduation. Musically gifted, quick witted, smart and cute to boot…what’s not to love?  God’s blessings to her on the adventures that lie ahead!

Sweet Baby Sam | Carlisle, PA Baby Photographer

I told myself that I would start my blog off on the right foot and try to keep some semblance of chronological order. But I just can’t help myself. Rules are made to be broken. And adorable pictures are meant to be posted.

You will eventually see this little darling in another post with his 5 doting older siblings, but I just had to share this one from his one year old birthday session today. It was kind of a big deal. This teeny fellow made an early entrance at a little over two pounds and we’re praising God that he is now over 16 pounds! I’ve had the honor of knowing his family for many years, and have had the pleasure of taking his pictures at various milestones along the way. Happy 1st Birthday, Sam!

Sondra Fertig - Dear Stefanie,

What an adorable photo of Sammy. I’m the proud grandmother! I’m so glad that Faith had you do this. She has some of the last session framed but I haven’t seen all of them yet. I can’t wait for Christmas because I think I’m getting one of the six kids together, something that I find extremely difficult to do. I love and treasure all the photos you’ve taken of my grandchildren. Thanks.

Sincerely,
Sondra Fertig

Bridge on my side of the world | Perry County Family Photographer

I knew there was a reason that I never put sneak peeks from this session on my facebook page. I mean, besides the fact that the kids had just started back to school and 100% of my brain function was committed to figuring out which child needed picked up where and when. Because I didn’t want to be known as the mom who left her offspring at practice until the coach started asking “What is your favorite thing to eat for dinner?” because it was looking more and more likely that he/she would be going home with them for the evening.

But I digress. I must have known that I would need a first, official photography post complete with pictures that hadn’t been published before, and this session was the logical choice. When my cousin (second cousin to be exact), asked if I would take pictures of their family when they were up from Virginia for our 70ish something family reunion, it was an absolute yes. Followed by a tentative, “Where?” She’s originally from Perry County. Like a ton of other people in my family, and no, I’m not ashamed to admit it. Should I be? But after throwing several ideas around, she wisely suggested one of the restored covered bridges in Perry County. I was embarrassed that I didn’t think of it myself.

So we settled on the New Germantown Bridge outside of Blain which borders a farm owned by her extended family. My goodness, was it ever beautiful. I love all things old, and this was the perfect spot. Much to the delight of the boys, we even saw a horse and buggy drive by. And despite the fact that I allowed a solid hour to reach our destination, I discovered that New Germantown really isn’t on the other side of the world. It was only about 1/2 hour away and I want to go back. I was so fortunate to be able to spend the evening with my family that I don’t see nearly often enough and to get to know their beautiful children. I’m honored to feature them as my first official photography post!

Theresa - Gorgeous! That horse and buggy picture is precious! Award-worthy! Can you photoshop my kids’ heads in there? I need it for my wall.

Eek! My first post!

Okay. Cleansing breath. I feel like this inaugural (I love that word!) post should be somehow ceremonial, yet professional, yet not too heavy…but all I can think of is, “Eek! I have a website!” So I’ll go with that. I’ve been working on this thing for an embarrassingly long time, and asked more questions than the poor help desk guys at the blog site deserve. I’m picturing them now, drawing straws to see who ends up answering my latest question and slapping the back of the poor chump who lost. But fear not, my winning friends, your turn will come. Be patient. I was way too frugal to pay someone to customize my site for me, and after all, I have a college degree lurking around here somewhere so I should be able to figure this out, right?

And figure it out I (kind of) did. I hope you love this font, and the size of it, and the color of it, and how it smells (okay, I made that up) – you wouldn’t believe how long it took just to figure out how to make it look just like this. Truly, it was as if I were working to disprove Einstein’s theory of relativity. If it can be done in one easy step, which I learned was the case, I will seek to accomplish it in twelve. I have no business pretending to know what I’m doing.

But, alas, here it is and I’m so excited I can hardly stand it! A real, live grown-up place to show you my favorite pictures and where I’ll hopefully get to meet you and where you can learn a little about me. Much of what you see here will be photography related (hello, it IS a photography site!), but from time-to-time, we might find ourselves musing off-topic about whatever strikes our fancy. Regardless, I hope that you’ll come back often to sit and enjoy a few moments with me.

So if you’ve made it this far, “Welcome!” I hope to see you again soon!
